The Study
Haldimand County has initiated a Class Environmental Assessment for the Update to the Caledonia Master Servicing Plan. Haldimand County prepared the initial Caledonia Master Plan for water, storm drainage, sanitary and transportation projects in 2006. The purpose of this update is to document the existing servicing conditions, the future servicing needs over the next 20 years, and provide updated servicing plans for water, wastewater, storm water and transportation.
The Process
The study was conducted in compliance with the Master Servicing Approach 2, as defined in the Municipal Engineers Association “Municipal Class Environmental Assessment,” (October 2000, as amended June 2007, 2011 and 2015), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. This study addressed Phases 1 and 2 of the Class Environmental Assessment Process and was sufficient to fulfill the requirements for Schedule B projects.
Public and review agency consultation is a key component of the Class Environmental Assessment Process and input was sought from various parties throughout the study. Two Public Information Centres (PICs) were held to provide interested parties with an opportunity to review and discuss issues related to the project.
