Health & Social Services – Haldimand and Norfolk

Health & Social Services Department

The Health & Social Services Department ensures the health and welfare of the population as a whole. Services are provided by one Department to both Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. The Health & Social Services Department, as it affects Haldimand County, consists of three Divisions:

Health Unit
Offers a variety of free and low-cost services, such as dental screening and vaccinations, to residents and visitors of all ages and incomes in Haldimand County.

Social Services
Focuses on preparing people in Haldimand County for employment, from financial and employment support to subsidized childcare.

Social Housing
Ensures that the residents of Haldimand County find and retain safe, clean and affordable housing. Some of the services offered consist of subsidized housing, homelessness programs and rent supplement programs.

EarlyON Child & Family Centres
Provides no-cost opportunities for children 0 to 6 years of age to participate in play and inquiry-based programs while supporting parents and caregivers in their roles.

Health and Social Services Advisory Committee

The Provincial Government has designated Norfolk County as the CMSM and the Board of Health with the authority to deliver these programs for both Norfolk and Haldimand Counties.

Members and Meetings

The six-member Committee is made up of three Councillors appointed from both Haldimand and Norfolk Counties for the term appointed by their respective Councils. The Health & Social Services Advisory Committee meets on the third Monday of each month. Meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. and are currently being held virtually.
