Agriculture Sector

Agriculture has a long history in Haldimand County, as family farms have been a staple to our economy for generations.  When compared to the provincial and federal employment sectors, there is a stronger concentration of agriculture employment in Haldimand County. We specialize in crop production, animal production and aquaculture.

Tourism is one of Haldimand’s key sectors as visitors flock to the municipality annually to enjoy our placed based assets and businesses that support the sector. Key draws include the Grand River, Lake Erie, and activities these waterways permit including kayaking, fishing and boating; culinary adventures including you-pick operations, farm tours, and local restaurants that have signature menus; also outdoor experiences in our rural landscape including birding, hiking and cycling.

Haldimand County also has a Tourism Network which gathers quarterly to discuss marketing initiatives, trends, visitor statistics, partnerships and creating tourism experiences to continue to develop Haldimand County as a premiere tourism destination.
