Building Division Timelines

Haldimand County Building Division is experiencing a higher than normal volume of Building Permit Applications, as well as general building, property and zoning inquiries.  Due to the increased activity levels and a temporary staff shortage, wait times for these services may be longer than normal. In particular, the review and issuance of Building Permits is expected to exceed the normal 10 day period.

Haldimand County Building Division is committed to providing the best service to each of our customers, while taking precautions during this unprecedented time.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this period.

Under the Ontario Building Code Act, you MUST obtain a building permit to construct, demolish, renovate, alter, install or change the use of a building. Construction may not begin until a building permit has been issued. Please click the button below to submit your application online.

You can apply for building permits, check the status of applications, pay fees, and request inspections through our online portal (CityView).

General Building Information

Requesting an Inspection

Inspections are required for every permit issued.  It is the homeowners responsibility to ensure you or your contractor contact the Building Division to book an inspection.

Insepctions can be requested using the form provided below or by visiting our service desk located on the second floor of the Haldimand County Administration Building (see address above) or you can call the office during our normal business hours at 905-318-5932 extension 8300.

Building inspection requests are to be requested with 24 hours notice, and prior to 3:00 pm to recieve an inspection for the next business day. (subject to availability)
