Haldimand County is pleased to offer civil marriage ceremonies, held at the Haldimand County Administration Building between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The ceremonies are non-denominational and are performed by designated County staff under the authority of the Marriage Act.

Marriage Consultation
A pre-ceremony consultation with the Marriage Officiant must take place prior to the ceremony. Both applicants must be in attendance and provide:
- A valid Ontario Marriage Licence (The Ontario Marriage Licence can be purchased from the County or another Ontario Municipality with the authority to issue marriage licences) which is valid for a period of three months after the date of issue;
- Payment for the ceremony will be collected during the consultation.
Do I have a choice of ceremonies?
Yes. You will have the choice of a Standard Marriage Ceremony or an Optional Marriage Ceremony, incorporating all mandatory declarations. Personal vows in addition to the mandatory declarations are also permitted.
How much does a civil marriage ceremony cost?

Do I need to bring witnesses?
Two witnesses are required, both of whom must be over 14 years of age, be able to understand and appreciate what is taking place and be able to give evidence of such at a later date, if required. If you are unable to provide witnesses the County will provide municipal staff to act in this capacity.
